Advocacy and Policy
IMA advocates for physicians at the Idaho Legislature, as well as various state agencies such as the Department of Health & Welfare, Board of Medicine, Department of Insurance, and many others. Priorities include: Fixing Idaho’s abortion ban, expanding GME, defending Medicaid expansion and promoting public health initiatives.
IMA closely monitors federal healthcare legislation by working with the AMA's Washington, DC, office. The IMA works directly with the Idaho Congressional Delegation and their staff on important issues which impact the medical profession such as Medicare payment reform, prior authorization, reducing physician burnout, and more.
Representation & Participation
The IMA House of Delegates brings together physician members from around the state and is the official policy making body of the IMA. Being a delegate allows Idaho physicians to have their voices heard and direct IMA to work on your behalf at the Idaho Legislature and with other regulatory agencies.

- Payor Policy Portal: To assist you, IMA and Gill Compliance offer a FREE membership benefit that will help you find updated telehealth and vaccine payor rules for Idaho all in one resource. The Payor Policy Portal provides you with viewing rights to a Smartsheet that includes updated common codes, modifiers, and links to vital information and payor guidelines. Members must contact the IMA for access to this portal.
- Education Webinars: Monthly educational sessions on coding and reimbursement guidelines, legal issues and risk management. Approved by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) for continuing education credits.

Idaho Health Professionals Recovery Program (formerly Physician Recovery Network)
The goal of the Health Professionals Recovery Program is to assist Idaho health professionals and their families in identifying substance use disorders that may be a potential threat to the individual or their loved ones. The program aims to lessen the negative impacts on the individual and their career.
